Abdel Aziz Dahi was The Mauritanian Central Bank Governor during 5 years (2015 – 2022) and has held various responsibilities at the highest level of the Mauritanian state for over 20 years. His responsibilities included the following:
- Minister for Digital Transformation, Innovation and Modernisation of the Administration
- Minister for the Economy and Industry
- Minister for Fisheries and Maritime Economy
- Minister for the Civil Service and Modernisation of the Administration
Abdel Aziz Dahi has also held strategic positions in the senior administration (General Manager of the National Health Insurance Fund) and represented Mauritania in major international agencies (IMF, World Bank, ADB, AMF, IFAD, G5 Sahel…).
His multiple responsibilities in these highly strategic spheres for the future of Mauritania have given him a global and in-depth vision of the issues at stake in the transition that Mauritania and the whole world are currently undergoing. His experience covers the banking, economic, industrial, social and environmental spheres.
Having piloted various reforms and strategies, he has been able to measure how much resistance to change requires a pedagogical, participatory and above all innovative approach to facilitate the management of change and its appropriation by all stakeholders.
